The Purposes of the Scriptures

OPENING THOUGHT

Jimmy Jividen wrote in The Inspiration and Authority of the Scriptures,

The Bible has been used for many purposes, some right and some wrong. Sometimes it is viewed as a holy icon used to protect a person from demons. The Bible is often placed on a table as a symbol of religious devotion, although it might never be read. The Bible is used in court to confirm by oath that the witnesses telling the truth. The Bible is used at the swearing-in ceremony of the president of the United States. The Bible is sometimes used to press flowers or to keep a special newspaper clipping, treasured letters or a lock of hair. The real purpose of the Scriptures is sadly often forgotten.

Why did God give us the Bible?
