Quarter 1: The Call to Seek

January: The Priority of Seeking

January 4: Seek First
Before we consider our own needs this week, we seek His Kingdom at this table.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33

January 11: Seek Early
Just as the women sought Jesus early at the tomb, we seek Him first on this Lord's Day.

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
    my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
    as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. Psalm 63:1

January 18: Seek with the Whole Heart
Communion isn't a ritual; it’s a whole-hearted search for God’s presence.

Blessed are those who keep his testimonies,
    who seek him with their whole heart… Psalm 119:2

January 25: Seek the Lord While He May Be Found
This table is an open invitation to find grace today.

Seek the Lord while he may be found;
    call upon him while he is near… Isaiah 55:6

February: Seeking the Savior’s Mission

February 1: Seeking the Lost
We eat with the One who came to seek and save the lost, including us.

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. Luke 19:10

February 8: Seeking the One Who Sought Us
We love Him because He first sought us.

We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19

February 15: Seeking the Good Shepherd
We are the sheep who went astray; He is the Shepherd who sought us.

I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek your servant,
    for I do not forget your commandments. Psalm 119:176

February 22: Seeking Reconciliation
Christ sought to make peace between us and God through His blood.

… and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. Colossians 1:20

March: Seeking Spiritual Transformation

March 1: Seek Things Above
As we partake, we lift our eyes from the earth to the heavenly throne.

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1

March 8: Seeking a Clean Heart
We ask God to search us and see if there be any wicked way in us.

Search me, O God, and know my heart!
    Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there be any grievous way in me,
    and lead me in the way everlasting! Psalm 139:23-24

March 15: Seeking the Face of God
To seek His face is to desire intimacy with the Father through the Son.

You have said, “Seek my face.”
My heart says to you,
    “Your face, Lord, do I seek.” Psalm 27:8

March 22: Seeking Wisdom
The cross is the wisdom of God; we seek to understand its depth today.

… but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 1 Corinthians 1:24

March 29: Seeking Transformation
We seek to be conformed to the image of the One who died for us.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

Quarter 2: Seeking Through the Sacrifice

April: Seeking Through the Sacrifice

April 5: Seeking the Bread of Life
We seek the only food that truly satisfies the soul.

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” John 6:35

April 12: Seeking the Living Water
Christ’s side was pierced so that we might never thirst again.

On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. John 7:37

April 19: Seeking the Narrow Way
The cross is the gate; we seek the strength to walk the path.

For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. Matthew 7:14

April 26: Seeking the True Vine
We seek to abide in Him as we partake of the fruit of the vine.

The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him. John 15:5

May: Seeking God’s Character

May 3: Seeking Humility
We seek the mind of Christ, who humbled Himself to the point of death.

And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:8

May 10: Seeking Mercy
We come to the table not because we are worthy, but because we seek His mercy.

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

May 17: Seeking Peace
Christ is our peace; we seek to leave our anxieties at the foot of the cross.

For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility … Ephesians 2:14

May 24: Seeking Righteousness
We hunger and thirst for the righteousness found only in Jesus.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Matthew 5:6

May 31: Seeking One Another’s Good
We eat as one body, seeking the welfare of our brothers and sisters.

Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor. 1 Corinthians 10:24

June: Seeking Unity in the Body

June 7: Seeking Harmony
We seek to be of the same mind as we share the one loaf.

May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5-6

June 14: Seeking to Serve
Christ sought to serve, not be served; we seek that same heart.

… even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28

June 21: Seeking Forgiveness
As we receive His forgiveness, we seek the strength to forgive others.

… bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Colossians 3:13

June 28: Seek His Strength
We seek the power of His resurrection to get us through the week.

Seek the Lord and his strength;
    seek his presence continually! 1 Chronicles 16:11

Quarter 3: The Strength of the Search

July: Seeking Strength for the Journey

July 5: Seeking Refuge
The cross is our "strong tower" where we seek safety.

… for you have been my refuge,
    a strong tower against the enemy. Psalm 61:3

July 12: Seeking Rest
Jesus says, "Come to Me"; we seek rest for our souls at this table.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

July 19: Seeking Endurance
We look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, to keep running.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2

July 26: Seeking the Light
We seek to walk in the light as He is in the light.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

August: Seeking Truth and Light

August 2: Seeking Truth
The Word became flesh; we seek the truth of His promises.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

August 9: Seeking Clarity
In a confusing world, we seek the simple clarity of the Gospel.

But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:3

August 16: Seeking the Narrow Path
We seek the ancient paths where the good way is.

Thus says the Lord:
“Stand by the roads, and look,
    and ask for the ancient paths,
where the good way is; and walk in it,
    and find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ Jeremiah 6:16

August 23: Seeking Understanding
We ask God to open our eyes to the wonders of His sacrifice.

Open my eyes, that I may behold
    wondrous things out of your law. Psalm 119:18

August 30: Seeking "Not My Will"
We seek the submissive heart Jesus had in Gethsemane.

… saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” Luke 22:42

September: Seeking the Will of the Father

September 6: Seeking Obedience

We show we seek Him by keeping His commandments.

If you love me, you will keep my commandments. John 14:15

September 13: Seeking to Please Him
Our goal is to be acceptable and pleasing to the Lord.

So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. 2 Corinthians 5:9

September 20: Seeking God’s Glory
We eat and drink, seeking to do all to the glory of God.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

September 27: Seeking Eternal Weight of Glory
Our trials are light compared to what we seek here.

For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, … 2 Corinthians 4:17

Quarter 4: Seeking the Eternal

October: Seeking a New Perspective

October 4: Seeking the Unseen
We look not at the things which are seen, but the things which are eternal.

… as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18

October 11: Seeking a Pure Conscience
We seek the cleansing that only the blood of Christ provides.

… how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. Hebrews 9:14

October 18: Seeking the Mind of the Spirit
We seek to be spiritually minded, which is life and peace.

For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:6

October 25: Seeking a Better Country
Like the heroes of faith, we seek a heavenly homeland.

But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city. Hebrews 11:16

November: Seeking Our Heavenly Home

November 1: Seeking the City to Come
Here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come.

For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. Hebrews 13:14

November 8: Seeking His Appearance
We partake "until He comes," seeking and longing for His return.

Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:8

November 15: Seeking the Marriage Supper
This table is a foretaste of the feast we seek in heaven.

And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.” Revelation 19:9

November 22: Seeking Our Inheritance
We seek the inheritance that is incorruptible and undefiled.

… to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, … 1 Peter 1:4

November 29: Seeking Joy
In His presence is fullness of joy; we seek that joy at the table.

You make known to me the path of life;
    in your presence there is fullness of joy;
    at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11

December: Seeking Completion in Christ

December 6: Seeking Faithfulness
We seek to be found faithful stewards of the mystery of Christ.

Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2

December 13: Seeking Love
Above all, we seek to put on love, which binds everything together.

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:14

December 20: Seeking the "Well Done"
We live and partake seeking to hear those words from our Master.

His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ Matthew 25:21

December 27: Seek and You Shall Find
We end the year with the promise: everyone who seeks, finds.

For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Matthew 7:8
