I have enjoyed the change of pace over the last three weeks, but now it is time to get back on track. First there was Christmas, then the New Year, then the ice. I am ready for a normal week. How about you?
Because of the nice, long break, we must remind ourselves of the work God has given us to do. As the year begins, we are thinking of this time as a “new planting season.” Be sure to scatter a little seed so that the Lord will bless us to bear fruit for his kingdom.
Most of us have already made important commitments to the work of the Lord at Ashville Road. Unless we act on these commitments, they will amount to nothing. Will you follow through with what you have planned for 2017? Have you made any commitments in your heart at all? It doesn’t matter that we are already a few weeks in to the New Year. Anne Frank said, “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” You don’t have to wait until January 1 rolls back around to get started on doing what you need to do (Jas. 4:17).
The church is not the only organization trying to get into the groove. Everyone else is returning to their routine. Don’t let the world crowd God out of your life. God has promised that he will not let anything crowd you out of his heart (Rom. 8:38-39). Don’t let anything crowd him out of yours.
