Because a lot of things happen between Sundays and Wednesdays, several folks have requested updates through the week. Email is a cheap and easy way to provide this information, so from time to time we will be sending out Ashville Road Updates to keep you informed on the latest.
For the last several weeks we’ve been praying for Kenneth Davis’s sister, Lois Lazenby. We were sad to hear that she passed away Sunday night. Kenneth and Carolyn are in North Carolina for the funeral. The arrangements have been made for Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., at the Nicholson Funeral Home in Statesville, NC. Please keep Kenneth and his family in your prayers.
A family in the community is in need of boys’ clothing. If you would like to help, you may bring the clothing to my office. One of the children is an eight-year-old boy, size 12-14 shirt, size 8 pants, size 3 shoe. The other is a seven-year-old boy, size 10-12 shirt, size 8 pants, size 2 ½ shoe. They could also use socks and underwear. We need these donations by this coming Sunday.
Our series on Core Christianity has two more installments. We are focusing on the fundamentals of Christianity in an effort to reach out to our community, particularly some of our guests who have visited us before on Friends & Family Day and other occasions. Do you have a friend who may be interested in investigating the essentials of Christianity? Invite him or her to come next Sunday.
Our young people are busy this time of the year. The Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes Convention is just a little over two weeks away. Also, this Sunday the preteens will have a devotional following the morning service. Boys should bring drinks; girls should bring desserts. The teens will visit the Area Wide Youth Service at the Adamsville congregation, which is scheduled for 5 p.m. Listen for more details on Sunday.
Sunday night at Care and Share we welcomed two new families to Ashville Road: Jerry and Frances Scott and Vernon and Bernice Key. We are thrilled to have these new families. Be sure to find them and welcome them to Ashville Road. They are wonderful people.
Some brethren from Kentucky are going to be in our area for the races in Talladega. Would any of you be willing to open up your homes to them on the weekend of April 24-25? If you have an extra bed to share with one or two men, let me know. My email address is drewkizer@windstream.net.
We will try to send out these updates on a weekly basis. If you do not want to receive them, please let us know. We don’t want to be a nuisance. Also, if there is something you would like for us to include, send it in an email to me or Sharon (arcoc@windstream.net).
